Love = Casting on

Sassy has been reading _Knitting Yarns: Writers on Knitting_ edited by Ann Hood.

Hood writes in her essay that she was mired in grief after her five-year-old died of an  infection. Unable to exit the memory loop of the  days spent in ICU a friend suggests that she take up knitting.  She drives to Sakonnet Purls in Rhode Island desperate for a measure of calm.

Hood writes,  "Jenn Silverman, the young woman who taught me to knit, handed me a pair of needles and a skein of yarn, took a long hard look at me, and took them back. 'I was going to teach you to cast on, she said...but you won't be able to do it I can tell.'

Was it my trembling hands that gave me away?

'I'll keep casting on for you until your ready to learn how to do it yourself.'"

Hood concludes that none of us can cast on alone.

So today when is love preeminent I wish you a Happy V Day.
Let me cast on for you.
