Dashing...
such a lovely word.
Of course,
I'm not dashing
through the snow
or even through the mall
for that matter.
I'm knitting a sock
at the rate of an inch
an hour or less.
And hoping to finish
the danged thing
before Jennifer is old
enough for retirement.
To make matters worse
"Vogue Knitting" (current issue)
has directions for an ornament
knit with self striping sock yarn.
You cast on for a 12 inch block,
knit 6.5 inches, cast off.
Gather it together every fourth stitch
with an 18 inch strand of yarn
around a styrofoam ball.
Add hanger.
Doesn't that sound fun?
My knitting stores-
the ones close in-
don't carry fine sock yarn.
Even getting the Styrofoam
ball would be a trek.
And we all know I don't
need another project.
But the temptation is great.
Alack, alas...
Woe is me.
Back to the task at hand.
But get on my list
for next year.
Those ornaments are awesome.

Yes whether we use dashing as a verb or adjective, it has a lovely sound to it. :)
