Beginning...

"It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas..."
Dee, dum, dum, dee...

Not really.
It is beginning to look
a lot like the UPS
warehouse.

I walk past the guest room
with eyes averted.

You see, my mother
always wrapped
the Christmas gifts.

The tea kettle would sing,
I would iron and she would wrap.

And as the years went on
"the girls" wrapped with
expensive paper folded
into sharp corners...
adding artful color and ribbon
choices.

So, I am sequestered
in the den... hiding out
you might say.

Knitting up to toe level
on Frannie's Christmas sock.

Tomorrow, I'll open
all those boxes and
start slicing up all
that paper.

And maybe with luck
I will get the gifts
tagged with the names
of the correct recipients.

One can never be sure.

By the by Web's Yarn site
has a marvelous pattern
for tiny ornament sized mittens.

Great way to use odd skeins
of yarn.

I'm adding it to my
things-to -do list
for next Christmas.

It helps one to ignore
the tasks undone this year.

Ho! Ho! Ho!
