Christmas in Sock Land

Christmas "Crush" Sassy Stripes
socks rest in a bed of white tissue
and a coat of Dora Christmas
paper.

Frannie's Galway blues
drape the den coffee table
in need of needle work and
washing.

And sock #6-mate to the orange
and penny knee high- sports
an inch and a half of cuff.

Sock pairs # 5 & 6 will
be "Little Christmas" gifts...
God willing the postal service
cooperates.

While overhead instead of
the rattle and clatter of
Santa and reindeer I hear
the drone of
Delta flights winging
two daughters and two
grand boys to sunny
Florida for a week plus
of feasting and merriment.

Potatoes to peel,
ham to ready for the oven,
veggies to wash...
