Today was a three
toe sock day.
I knitted that dang
toe in three times.
It did not want to go.
First, the stitches slipped
off one of the needles
at the last
possible second...
just as I was finishing
the decreases.
Unravel and pick up stitches.
Then I completed the knitting
and proceeded to do
the Kitchener stitch graft.
It waded all up... looked
like a cat had clawed it.
The third time it went...
just barely.
Praise God!
Will someone tell
me what goes on
in the universe on
three toe sock days?
I mean, it is not
rocket science.
I have done it many
times before.
Anyway!
I stopped whining;
and we did
technology day.
Clearly defined, it is
a trip to Staples to
ogle technology.
This year husband is
mulling printer, scanner,
and fax.
Not that we need a fax
but one never knows.
My children will be happy to
know that this year
we were pretty well behaved.
Last year an eager young salesclerk
asked, "Could I help you?"
I said, "I don't think so?"
He said, "What are your looking for?"
I said, "My husband."
He said, "Is he the gentleman in
the yellow shirt in the front of the store?"
I said, "Duh!"
I'm not one to notice Jim's shirt color
once it is off the ironing board.
Most men in Staples
in the middle of the day
on a week day are...
let's say older men.
I said, "Maybe?"
So, eager beaver ran off to the front
of the store to tell Jim he thought
his wife was looking for him.
Bless Jim's droll heart,
he was not dissuaded from
coupon reading.
He said, "She'll find me."
Today I tried to look
more knowledge and
business like.
The checker did ask
if she could help me
when I spent a good
deal of time gaping
at picture frames that
do slide shows for $299.
I told her thanks
but I was just hanging
out waiting for the
husband and aren't
those frames something?
She laughed. And
we agreed that for
that price we could
do without.
And now that
my good humor
has been restored,
I'll weave in the
yarn ends and
the dratted sock
will be finished.
On that small wave
of hilarity, I might
even start another sock.
