Knitting Grandmothers
This morning I'm thinking about grandmothers and their love of knitting.
The photo is of Florence Lewis. She was my father's stepmother.
His mother died when he was ten. She was the only grandmother
I ever knew.
I have pretty dishes and a cross and chain she left for me.
But not one single knitted item.
Don't you wonder what she is knitting? It is so huge.
And she is seated on a boat. My grandfather made his living as a captain.
But this boat looks like a leisure boat.
I'm trying to calculate how old she was in the photo?
I'm not fond of having my picture taken. Perhaps, I should have
a grandmother knitting photo taken. A classic old woman pose...
On the other hand I think I'll go knit instead.

Cute post. I love the photo. Neither of my grandmothers knitted. They both quilted. My dad's grandmother knitted. He was three when she passed. The last thing she knitted was a pair of mittens so he could play in the snow. I hope I am well remembered by my grandchildren.
you absolutely need to get Jim or someone to take your photo as you're knitting. You needn't look directly into the camera, in fact, that's best. Do it so your grand babies have their own favourite photo of you knitting. That's a plan! :)
