Smocking

Smocking:

I have always loved

little girls' dresses

smocked with delicate

embroidery floss.

Alas, my needlework

is not up to the task.

So, I'm knitting the sock

in the photo above.

It is not exactly smocking.

It's called a tied cable.

And it looks like

Irish knit.

And it pleases me.
