Spring is Here

I exaggerate.

But it is March.
So, that makes spring...
just around the corner.

I am making ankle socks-
not knee socks-
using a self striping yarn
in Easter egg colors.

The pattern requires
three stitch shifts:
the cuff and instep in 2 by 2 rib,
the heel in sl 1, k1 across and purl back,
the sole and toe in stockinette.

Applause please.
I haven't screwed it up yet.

Think patent leather shoes,
straw hats, and sunshine.

Hop on down the bunny trail.
Six weeks... just a jaunty little hop.

I'm hoppin' right behind you there, Sassy Pat! We're expecting a foot of snow here. But you are right, it's March...so it'll melt! And eventually we'll climb out from under and listen to the sounds of the evening peepers once more!

For all our Eleanor Roosevelt admirers...from Hyde Park, NY

You are invited...

Reservation Form

The Town of Hyde Park Historical Society will have our second "Eleanor Roosevelt Knit-In" on Sunday, May 3, 2009, from 1-5 PM at the Henry A. Wallace Information Center at the FDR Presidential Library & Home, Route 9, Hyde Park, NY.

Participants will bring their own acrylic yarn and needles to knit or crochet blocks 7" x 9" to be assembled into afghans to "Warm Up America" which will be donated to non-profit organizations, our Troops, the Red Cross, etc. In order to have the blocks identical in size, it is suggested that a cardboard be measured and used as a template, thus making them uniform in size and easier to put together. You do not have to knit or crochet to attend; just come and enjoy the program, however, a reservation is also required with the $15 fee.

At the Knit-In there will be an appearance by "Eleanor," Roosevelt films shown, and light refreshments, as well as a free pass to the FDR Library that day.

For reservations send a check made out to the Town of Hyde Park Historical Society, P. O. Box 182, Hyde Park, NY 12538 for $15 per person. Please include your name, address, phone number, and email address if it is not imprinted on the check. There will be no tickets issued. Your name will be on a list at the door. As this is a very popular event, early reservations are suggested.
