Stretching

No, not bending and stretching
although that might be a
capital idea.

I have been giving
my neck a twist of late.
Awkward knitting position
seems to be the cause
of my distress.

I'm on a bender of sorts.
Seven inches of ribbing...
not a big deal.

Think again.
I'm on a tension meltdown-
now don't ask me how-
but every few rows I
find a loose stitch,
a really loose stitch.

I drop the offending stitch
down to a suitable row.
With my handy crochet hook
I make a series of neat tight
stitches up to the working row.

Great! Back on track.

And then nodding
off at the proverbial wheel
I discover a whole ladder
of stretched stitches to
be re-knit.

Very well.
I can do this.

But then the second set
of loosey goosey stitches
requires ripping the whole
sock cuff out for six rows.

I mean. Give me a break.

We both know a whiff
of boredom has crept in.

And one can not
daydream and knit
at the same time.

We also recognize
that focusing on
offending stitches
causes the happy knitter
to create more of them.

Let's call it
Patti's knitting law
101. But in truth
I don't believe that
the concept is new
or original to me.

Enough whining.

Let's stretch the blog window
and get on to the daydreaming.

I'll tell you my dream
if you'll tell me yours.
