"Russian Winter" Baby Booties

The booties are designed to be worn by a 6-12
month old. Don't they look like ski boots?

Sassy was intrigued by the shaping. You cast on 12 stitches.
Knit twenty ridges in garter stitch. Pick up 20 stitches on each
of the long sides and 12 heel stitches. Knit 15 rows in the round.
Decrease: (for the toe) knit 2 tog. using 1 stitch from the short row
and 1 stitch from the long side, turn, repeat on the other side  until
10 stitches remain on each long side. Knit 2 rows even, an
eyelet row, a  decrease row, knit the remaining 20 stitches.
Bind off using a needle of a larger size than the one used
for the project. Crochet a shoe lace.

This free pattern may be found on the blog: "Chicken Stitches"
and is a Henya design.

Sassy is having a flirtation with slippers, socks, and booties of all ilk.
Perhaps this pattern could be extrapolated into an adult slipper.

Footwear patterns are listed under many titles. Bed socks or booties
being among the most common nomenclature.

But some savvy grandmother called her pattern dorm boots.
Way to go! I am only knitting dorm boots for my grand
girls.
