"Mad Tulips" by Mary Licause
watercolor
The Art Society of Kingston
will host a show during
the month of May. The theme
will be "The Great Tulip Scandal."
Location: 97 Broadway, Kingston, NY
Gallery hours: 2-6: Tuesday
thru Sunday.
ART WORKS: "In 1636-1637 in the Netherlands,
a frenzied hype started a whole investment boom,
for two months, a single tulip bulb, due to their rarity
and supply-and-demand, became equal
to a half year's wages of a common labor."
I am enthralled by the tulip scandal.
Tulips have always been a Sassy Pat
favorite.
Years ago I knitted a "Tulip Lace Cardigan"
for Miss Grace. She wore it to Sunday school.
It can be found in Daddy's Little Girl
by Leisure Arts.
It is a nineteen row repeat.
Takes a little patience and
a lot of focus but well worth
the effort.
I might even be able to find
the photo... given enough time.
Maybe.
Enjoy the tulips.

Mary's watercolour is divine -- she is a master at that beautiful spring flower.
