What stays the same?

In _A Three Dog Life_,

Abigail Thomas writes:
This is the one thing that stays the same:
my husband got hurt.
Everything else changes.
A grandson needs me and then he doesn't.
My children are close then one drifts away.
I smoke and then I don't.
I  knit ponchos, then hats, shawls,
hats again, stop knitting, start up again."

What stays the same?

I knit in circles.

Hi Pat,
Love your blog. I'll be adding it to my bloglist soon. Love your "knitlist" of readings. Have you read "Knitting into the Mystery" by Susan Jorgenson (& another author whose name escapes me but I think her first name might also be Susan)? I am not a knitter but, as you would know since you've been receiving my E-newsletter for years, I crochet. Did we meet at Still Point? At the IWWG conference?
