Chocolate...
No, I'm not eating it,
just knitting chocolate fantasies.
I bought thick skeins
of Lion Brand Wool-Ease,
in a dye lot named "Wood."
Think tree bark.
The worsted weight yarn
color variations run from
light milk chocolate to Carmel
to rich dark chocolate.
The thread runs through your fingers
like hot fudge slithering over fat
scoops of vanilla ice cream.
And I long for Krause's candy.
The Krause family makes homemade candy
with a multitude of fillings:peanut butter,
coconut, nuts and raisins, marzipan pan.
You choose your favorites to fill half-pound
to pound-and-a-half size boxes.
Jim has been known to eat
a half-pound to cure a cold.
I opt for dark chocolate.
Jim prefers light.
The candy store is in New York.
I am in Florida.
So, I'm making due
with fine memories.
And knitting socks for a chocolate lover.

Pat, you absolutely wowed me when you wrote this:
"The thread runs through your fingers

Wow, that's beautiful writing -- the 'chocolate' knitting must be feeding the muse!
