Wise Woman Tea/ Knitting Circles

Invitation:

Join us for a Wise Woman
Tea at Still Point on
December 12th.

It reads in essence:

In a society that
values youth:
Wise Woman teas
wish to honor the
role of older women,
create circles that
draw upon their
wisdom and intuition.

I accept with pleasure.
I will join their circle
from afar.

My own personal circle
includes three daughters.

Daughters with unfailing attributes:

They refuse to acknowledge
that I'm aging. God Bless
them. In some bizarre twist
of fate they believe I'm
young and peppy and capable
of great feats of multitasking
and endurance.

For now I'm rising
to the occasion but the
creaky hips and cataracts
are giving lie to their optimism.

"You can walk 'Poet's Walk,'
climb that hill. No hurry."

They hold faith that I'll
live to be a hundred.

"Damn! Don't wimp out us now."

If an age disadvantage peeks through:

A cell phone arrives... programmed.
"See Mom, no biggie."

A digital camera appears under
the Christmas tree.
"Point and shoot."

"A knitting blog, we can do that."

And bless them:
they listen to my wisdom
and allow for my intuition.

I am grateful.

And take their own path,
do it their own way.

So, during this prelude to Thanksgiving
I'm knitting circles within circles.

Giving thanks!

Pat your writings are so insightful and thoughtful. You have a lovely spirit.

I've added your blog to a meme (I know not something I plan to do regularly for sure). Play along with it if you like, or not.
