The younger generation has opted for footies
formerly called ankle socks by my generation.
Footies are not meant to match. Hmm! What fun!
No need to repeat the the same ole, same ole.

The yarn is Crofter: a baby Fair Isle DK.

designed by Amy Pope.

Easter Bonnet

Do you remember Easter bonnets, patent leather shoes, chocolate

bunnies? I do. Easter meant a long mass, new clothes, a huge Easter dinner,

the promise of spring flowers. I remember well the blessings of a 40's childhood.

My neighbor came a few days ago with an Easter basket filled with candy.

The chocolate treasures dot the photo of the Easter bonnet I

knit for a yet unnamed baby.

The hat is from a pattern by Maryna Shevchenko

at www.knitca.com . I knit the newborn size and used

Simply Soft a worsted weight yarn.

The pattern is called "Snowflake." I finished it in a day

in the ninety degree heat while the preparations to return

to New York swirled around me.
