Fair Isle February

February ends with a fair isle sock.
I am actually pleased with the result.

Talk about beginner mind... Zen mind...
well, I am hear to tell you that fair isle
sock knitting is challenging.

You have to work with two hands
and remember to catch the CC thread
every couple of stitches or you get
all those long loops... not good.

I am expanding my color choices.
Did you notice? Let's say that
I am having a flirtation with
this lovely shade of pumpkin

On to the wild Ides of March.

Monday MIttens: Color My World

I'm still enchanted with these color on color mittens.
Not an artist rendering by any stretch but
pleasing just the same.

Now the next leap is to learn to use my cell
phone photo options and then to edit the
photos on the computer.

Back to the mittens.
God give me color sense.

Do Not Disturb

You will find the Do Not Disturb room at the
Hotel Pelirocco in Brighton, England. Kate
Jacobs a local knitwear designer spent a month
and eleven pounds of yarn knitting a bedspread,
curtains, wall coverings,. The telephone,
lampshade, teapot and teacup are crocheted.

Will wonders never cease?

Any one up for a trip across the pond?

Monday Mitten # 2

Mitered Mittens... my new passion.
I have finally memorized the sequence.

These warm mittens match Ms. Tiffany's hat.
And I have a wee bit of yarn left that might
show up again in yet another mitten post.

Knit A Novel

"Some years ago, author Alice Walker was given a grant to write;

she proceeded to move out to the the country where she spent
a year knitting. As she knit, the characters in _The Color Purple_
made themselves know to her, and the force of the stories
narrative gathered like rain clouds."

* _Writing the Life Poetic_ by Sage Cohen

Wouldn't you like to know what Alice Walker was knitting?
What would you knit?
What story would you tell?

Mitten Monday

In one of life's paradoxes my kin in New York and Connecticut
are experiencing a spring-like winter and I am bent on flooding
the market with mittens.

The pattern was written by Stephanie Pearl-Mc Phee.
Titled Cloisonee' it is a delight to knit.
Addictive... shush! Don't tell.

Happy February

The first day of a new month.
Time to admire the orchid in the garden.

And knit mittens for friends in the north.
